Stand with us for truth in Texas history.

A Message from J.P. Bryan

Texas has the greatest history of any state in the union. It was a history forged on the western half of the United States by exceptional individuals. Heroes, both visible and invisible, did extraordinary things that have been a source of enduring inspiration for generations of Texans.

Make no mistake — our history and the teaching of that history distinguish us as Texans. Whether Texan by chance or by choice, that history is what makes us proud when we’re asked where we’re from and we say, “I am from Texas.”

Today, that history is under vicious attack by those who wish to villainize our heroes and demonize their accomplishments. This is especially true of our Anglo and Hispanic heroes whose only real failing was to have built the greatest state in the most exceptional country in the world.

History is subject to revision as the historical record reveals itself with the passage of time. But our history is being entirely rewritten by historians who have taken over historical organizations across this land, including the oldest learned institution in Texas—the Texas State Historical Association. They have drowned out the voices of men and women who study traditional history topics, and have stifled honest debate among all of those with stories to tell about our shared history.

To achieve their aim of presenting just one vision of our history, these historians have flouted the bylaws of the TSHA to disrupt the balance of the board. Rather than correct this, they sought to remove me as Executive Director. A lawsuit to restore equilibrium to the board is ongoing. News stories about it may be found here..

We must assure the TSHA retains its integrity so that future generations of Texans may benefit from ALL the voices who speak to us from the past. If you want your voice heard in defense of truth in Texas history, stand up with us. What you give will go to pay for or renew your membership in the Texas State Historical Association. The remainder of your donation will help us oppose the destruction of the history we all applaud, and to support history education across the state.

I say to you all — ALL for Texas, always!
